Dear Friends
Welcome to the 2013 Heraklion Summer Arts Festival, a cultural
institution that has gained the wholehearted support of the people of
Heraklion.
This year’s programme comprises 170 plays, concerts and traditional
events, and is dedicated to the centennial of the union of Crete with
Greece.
Alongside the main festival events, the municipal open air cinema in
the Bethlehem Gate will be open for the seventh consecutive year, offering new releases as well as Greek and world cinema classics.
Do make your way up to our newly renovated open air theatres, for
evenings packed full of art and entertainment by high quality groups
from Crete and elsewhere.
In the tough times we are now experiencing, coming into contact
with others, communicating, taking part and creating offer much needed relief from the daily grind. They are a breath of fresh air.
May I wish you a pleasant time at the Summer Festival.
Yannis Kourakis
Mayor of Heraklion

Events run through to the end of September, so make sure you join in the fun.
Love and hugs,
Jane x
